Full Description
Historic settlement of Gardenstown. The village of Gardenstown was founded in 1720 by Alexander Garden of Troup as a fishing village. The 1st and 2nd edition OS maps show how the village expanded in a relatively short space of time. A Home Guard Unit was based in the old school during World War II, mostly equipped with World War I weapons. An Auxillary Fire Unit was based in a coal store by the harbour.
