Full Description

Gate lodge, still in residential use, built in 1854 by A and W Reid. The 1st edition OS map shows an enclosure to the east and two buildings to the south-east. On the 2nd edition OS map one of the buildings to the south-east has been removed. Current OS maps show the remaining building to the south-east has been extended or replaced with a larger building. The lodge is asymmetrical and built with Scots Renaissance detail. It is a single-storey and attic building with masonry dormers, V and canted bas, diagonal chimney shafts, crowsteps and a slim three-storey entrance tower with circular windows at the top stage and a tall roof. The gate has banded gatepiers with urns.
