Full Description
Remains of a disused mill. It is a large rubble building on an L-plan with an Aberdeenshire type kiln kiln vent, now gutted and used as a barn. The wheel was mid-breast type measuring 0.79m by 3.66m. The Mill of Towie is depicted as a corn mill on the 1st edition OS map (25in published 1873). The map shows five rectangular buildings and a small L-shaped building. A lade with a sluice runs in from the south to feed the mill. By the 2nd edition map the buildings have reduced down to two rectangular buildings and a L-shaped one. The larger rectangular building and the L-shaped are depicted as disused on the 2005 map. Nothing remains of the mill lade.
