Full Description

Former corn mill depicted on historic OS maps. The mill is depicted as a corn mill on the 1867 OS 1st edition map, with a lade leading to the water wheel. Seven buildings are visible. By the time of the 2nd edition only five buildings are depicted as being in use. Remains include a most unusual mid 19th century all-iron overshot wheel in a rubble house, with geared up drive to a pulley from which a wire rope, carried on poles, transmitted power to a farm steading. Only one pole survives. Preserved by owners who also have a large collection of farm machinery. The wheel measures 1.06m by 3.05m, the pulley 0.37m.
