Full Description

Farmstead and farmhouse in use, depicted on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps. Shown as a U-plan steading, open to the south east, with horse mill on north elevation, and small farmhouse to the south east. By the 2nd edition map, the farmhouse has been extended to form an small L-plan. A bothy, likely associated with the farm, formerly stood to the south west (NJ74NW0055). A standing building survey was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in April 2021 ahead of proposed demolition. Six buildings were recorded, showing at least three phases of development. The farmhouse is 2-storey, built of stone rubble with red sandstone mouldings around the Phase 1 openings. Originally rectangular, a room was latter added on the north-northwest and a porch in the 20th century.
