Full Description

Farmstead and remains of a mill dating from the mid 19th century, shown on historic OS maps on which it is annotated as a corn mill. The OS 1st edition shows an L-plan range with three rectangular and one smaller building to the west, and three rectangular buildings, sluices and a lade to the north. By the time of the 2nd edition the L-plan range had been enlarged to form an H-plan, and to the west only one of the buildings remained but had been extended. The three buildings and sluices to the north are still shown. Current maps show that the steading has been further extended. To the north, only the northermost of the three buildings remains. This is a small rectangular farm mill building, which had been gutted by 1977. The wheel was mid-breast, 0.61m by 3.66m. A lade runs from the northeast (NJ74NE0024).
