Full Description
Remains of a mansion house and site of manor. The house was unroofed after the Second World War. No part of Rothie House appears to date from earlier than the late 18th century although the barony of Rothienorman is first documented in 14th century. Long a possession of the Earls of Rothes, the lands seem to have been held by the Gordons of Terpsersie in the 17th century. In 1723 George Leslie bought them. In 1861 the estate passed to Lt-Col Forbes Leslie, who was responsible for re-modelling and extending Rothie(norman) House.

Barony first documented in 1362; mentioned in 1723; rebuilt as 'neat modern house' in 1800; baronialised 1862; estate sold 1861; ruined by WWII.
