Full Description

Farmstead and site of manor house. During the 13th century the lands of Ardlogie were in the possession of the Cheyne family. In the 17th and 18th centuries the manor-house belonged to the Gordons of Gight. In 1721 it served as the 'joynture house of the Dowager of Gight'. In 1721 Major-General Buchan, the celebrated Jacobite died there. The farmstead is depicted on the OS 1st edition map as a Z-shaped steading, main orientation north-northwest to south-southeast, with a horsemill against the northwest corner. Two small buildings lie to the north and another further to the northwest. The house with attached garden lies to the south. On the 2nd edition map it retains a similar shape although the horsemill has been removed. Today there are later buildings in the area. Only one of the three small buildings appears to survive, now ruined.
