Full Description

Mill and associated farmstead, dating to the early 19th Century. The mill is a typical small Aberdeenshire mill, of 2-storeys, on a rectangular plan with a kiln at one end. It is depicted as such on the 1st edition OS map, but on the 2nd edition map an additional building has been added to the north face forming a T-plan structure. This additional building has since been removed. The skeleton of an eight spoke wood and iron mid-breast paddle wheel survives on the mill, but the interior has been gutted and the building has been converted into a house. The farmstead, which lies to the west of the mill, is shown on the 1st edition OS map as a U-plan steading open to the south with a small rectangular, detached, building effectively forming a south wing. A horse mill is shown attached to the west wing. On the 2nd edition map, the horse mill has been removed but the buildings are unaltered in plan. The steading appears to survive today in its original form, with the south building shown as roofless.

Period Notes
Built c.1800; conversion to house 1979.
