Full Description

Remains of a cairn. The edge was marked by a kerb of massive boulders and a large upright stone stood on bedrock just south of the centre. At the central point was an apparently artificial cavity in the rock. This was empty but at various places within the south half of the interior were found fragments of burnt bone, two polished stones (probably whet-stones), flint flakes and numerous pieces of white quartz. A considerable part of the north half of the interior floor was blackened. The cairn was completely excavated in 1961. All that now remains of the cairn are two or three earth-fast stones on the southeast arc, the upright stone near the centre and a scatter of loose stones outside the perimeter.
