Full Description

Farmstead still in use. It is depicted on the OS 1st edition 1867 map which shows a C-shaped steading open to the southeast and with an additional wing extending to the west, and a horsemill on the west side of the west wing. Two buildings stand immediately southeast of the steading, and another with attached enclosure to the west. The latter and the west wing of the steading had been removed by the time of the OS 2nd edition 1888 map, as had the original horsemill. This shows a U-shaped steading, now with a building attached to its north side, with a new horsemill to the east, two buildings to the south and a smaller one to the west. Current maps indicate that the north and west wings of the steading are now roofless, although new buildings have been added to the north. The westernmost small building has been removed, but a new farmhouse built west of the steading. Building survey of the steading was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in September 2014 prior to conversion for residential use. The stone farm buildings are all of large gramite fieldstones with granite quoins, sills and lintels. The west end of the south wing was a cottage, 12m long and 6.4m wide. Extending north from the north range was a mill, added in the later 19th century,
