Full Description
Village of Kemnay. Depicted on the 1st edition OS map of 1867 as a small group of houses with railway station, two schools and a post office. By the 2nd edition map of 1888 the village has more than doubled in size, another school has been added, and a church, police station and hotel are now shown. The village continues to expand today, and it is currently around five times the size of the settlement depicted on the 2nd edition OS map.
Period Notes
Mid-19thC expansion with railway and then second expansion in 1970-1980s due to oil industry boom. Kemnay school was built in 1860.
