Full Description

Former 'Power House' of the Aberdeen Electric Supply Company, as depicted on the OS 3rd edition map which shows two buildings. It formed part of a hydro-electric scheme (see NJ71NE0170). The house fronts the road, more recently named The Studio, but the building to the rear may have been replaced by a modern building. An electricity substation has been built to the east. Site visit by MAS in March 2007 following on from a watching brief to record sections of the pipe further south, recorded two cast iron pillars which may have belonged the original works are extant (at NJ 79155 15673), but although they appear to have been used as gateposts their original function and location is unclear. Photographic recording of the house was carried out in 2020 ahead of proposed alterations.
