Full Description
Remains of a long barrow, occupying a rounded crest on the end of a broad, low ridge. It is oriented east-west and has been damaged by quarrying at the east end. It is at least 27m in length, tapering in width from 20m at the east-southeast end to 16m on the west-northwest. The cairn was opened prior to 1845 and found to contain a cist with bones. Part of the barrow has been used as a quarry and a dump for stone clearance. The urn was given to a resident of Midmill Farm. Cist covered by stone dumping. On a visit 4/4/2007 major dumping evident around the area and some rubbish dumped on the northwest side. Development on three sides underway. A watching brief carried out in June-July 2007 by MAS during excavation of a cable trench to the north, west and south of the cairn recorded no archaeological features or finds.
