Full Description
Farmstead, dating probably from the early-mid 18th century, depicted on historic OS maps, and site of manor. The 1st edition shows two buildings arranged in an L-plan, with a long range to the west with attached horsemill on the west side. To the south is a walled garden with rectangular building attached to the west side. By the time of the 2nd edition map the long range had been removed and a new U-plan steading added, and the walled garden had been reduced in size. The east wing of the steading is now ruinous. The house, dating from the late 17th century, It is a 2-storey and attic, 3-bay house, with modern harl, contrasting painted reveals and dressings. There is a centre entrance within a moulded and lugged doorpiece. Regular fenestration, with ground and first floor window in the east gable, two modern 2-light swept dormers, and modern 12-pane glazing. End stacks with deep roll-moulded copes, and slate roof with pottery ridge. It belonged to the Duffs of Muldavit, later Ogilvies of Baldory which was a small barony. The garden wall is of random local rubble stone, but much has fallen down.
