Full Description

Remains of a section of railway line, part of the Banff, Portsoy and Strathisla Railway which connected these ports with the Great North of Scotland Railway at Grange. It opened in 1859 and was renamed the Banffshire Railway in 1863, asborbed into the GNSR in 1867. The section from Tillynaught to Banff closed to passengers in 1964, and to all traffic in 1968. Site visit in 2022 as part of the SCAPE Coastal Zone Assessment Survey recorded the remains of the pedestrian access underpass (NJ6763164487) for the golf clubhouse.
