Full Description

House, still in residential use, built in the early 18th century and restored in circa 1985. It is a two-storey and attic, five-bay house, now divided as separate dwellings, with wings to the rear with entrances. The building is harled rubble, with ashlar margins (some renewed). The outer bays are paired, with a centre entrance containing a panelled door. Four small cat-slide dormers are paired in the outer bays. The windows use 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case. The slate roof has squat end stacks, at number 33 shared with number 31 High Street (NJ66SE0363). Access to rear is through pend arch at number 39 High Street. There are reset early 18th century datestones in wing to rear of No 35. One is a marriage stone inscribed 'JM VF', with an incised heart between the initials, and an adjacent stone reads ''17 James M(?arr) Violete Fraser 26'.
