Full Description

Farmstead, in use, depicted on the 1st edition OS map as an L-plan steading, open to the southeast, with two rectangular buildings to the south and one to the east. A farmhouse is shown to the northwest, a mill dam, sluice and lade to south, and gravel pits are shown to the south. On the 2nd edition map of 1888, the two buildings to the south are shown as one long building while the building to the east has been extended. The gravel pits to the south are labelled as 'Old Gravel PIts' on this map. Current mapping shows the farmstead survives in its original plan form. The building to the east is shown, while the L-plan steading and building to the south appear to survive but have been incorporated into a larger structure. The mill dam, sluice and lade are not shown, nor are the gravel pits. A watching brief was carried out on the east side of the farm in February 2010 by MAS over the ground breaking works for a new slurry tank. No finds or features of archaeological significance were noted during the watching brief.
