Full Description

Remains of a dovecot and possible ice house, built in 1825-30. It is a square-plan, two-stage dovecot, possibly incorporating an ice house below, built into rising ground. The dovecot is constructed from random rubble with an ashlar alighting course and flight-holes. There is a door at the ground to the west to the vaulted basement that is lined with two courses of ashlar (possible icehouse). The door to the east leads to the dovecot chamber above, lined with brick and stone nesting boxes and a rat course. There is a window above to the west and two pairs of flight holes to the south, set in ashlar panels. It is contemporary with Clunie House to the west (NJ65SW0088).
