Full Description
Remains of mansion house, built circa 1792, possibly on the site of an earlier manor (15th century) and probably by John Smith of Aberdeen. The house is depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. The 1st edition shows a fountain south of the house. This does not appear on the 2nd edition on which there is a sundial south of the house and a formal garden on the east side of the house. To the southwest is a walled garden, dating from the early 19th century. It is roughly 100m square. Walls of roughly coursed rubble, sneck-harled with ashlar gablet coping. An east-west dividing wall has a depressed arch opening. There are 2-storey lean-to potting sheds on the exterior of the north wall.
