Full Description

A well said to be associated with the chapel at Mountblairy. When the well was being cleaned out coins were found within it. These included bawbees and a bodle of Charles II and a half-penny of William III. It is said to be a holy well and was once a rag well. An iron ladle was provided for drinking with. The well is now housed in a sandstone alcove with an arched entrance built into the slope. The water now issues from a pipe in the back wall of the alcove into a large marble bowl. Above the arch is the inscribed date 1865.
