Full Description

Corn mill depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. They show a group of four buildings, one on an L-plan with a lade leading to the mill from the west. The mill, dating from the late 18th century, is 2-storey with an overshot wheel and adjoining kiln, built into bank. It has been derelict since 1914. It is rectangular plan, the kiln roofless. Built of coursed rubble with stugged sandstone dressings, and a doorway to the south, breaking the eaves in a piended dormerhead. Small window to kiln. Waterwheel to west gable, window to gablehead. Irregular fenestration to north. Some machinery and iron mesh kiln floor noted within the interior in 1972.
