Full Description

Remains of a church, the predecessor of the present Parish church, and associated graveyard. All that remains of the church are four partially harled walls. The door is in the east gable and the north and south sides each contain a blocked-up window. The interior is overgrown with weeds and the walls are covered with ivy. The church contains a medieval piscina. Rebuilt into the middle of the inside west wall is an inscribed stone which reads 'This church was re-edified by George Ogilvie, Master of Banff, 1692' (the stone was formerly in the south wall in the 19th century). The graveyard was probably enclosed in the 18th century, with ashlar coped rubble walls. Within the graveyard are two war memorial stones and a war grave (NJ64NE0038). Gatepiers to the north with stepped caps, ball and eagle finials, wrought-iron gates.

Period Notes
Medieval roots. Re-edified 1652 inscribed stone. Out of use by 1806.
