Full Description

Remains of a building depicted as unroofed on the OS 2nd edition map, although it does not appear on the 1st edition. The remains were recorded during walkover survey in 2022 by Mott Macdonald in advance of 33kV refurbishment works (NJ64NW0147). It is rectangular, built from medium and large irregular stones, and measuring 11 m by 6 m. The wall survives up to three courses, maximum height 0.5 m. Now heavily overgrown and covered by grass, at the edge of an improved field. There is a large pile of stones from a collapsed wall on the north-east corner. Another cairn was recorded a short distance to the west at NJ 62016 34954.
