Full Description

Remains of a Cairn. The hollowed centre shows it has been robbed. Around it at a distance varying from 5-11 m is a low oval bank, not traceable in northeast, but this may be a later plantation dyke. The cairn itself is circa 13 m in diameter, the rim of the perimeter stands 0.6 m high. The ONB notes of the name: 'The origin of the name is unknown but the Rev Masson thought it to have been used as the seat of a sham Bishop, called a Mummer, elected according to custom annually, who conducted a service of the church here. Reive is the name given to a fortification.'
