Full Description

Farmstead still in use. On the 1st edition OS map it is shown as an elongated C-shaped building with court open to the south-east. Two extensions from the back wall of the court are shown, making a smaller C-shape within the larger shape. There are two further buildings at the south-west, and a pond and sluice are marked to the west. A further sluice is marked about 400m to the north-west on the Mill Burn. By the 2nd edition OS map the two additional buildings are not marked. To the east is a chunky T-shaped building within an enclosure, probably the farmhouse. The westernmost range and the easternmost of the court extensions have been extrended and now form a southern wall which almost completely encloses the court. The pond is shown, but appears disused and the sluices used to feed the water to and from the burn are not marked. The 2005 map shows that the T-shaped building survives in use and that parts of the courtyard building may survive in modified condition in the main building.
