Full Description

Remains of a range, possibly a croft, depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition map shows a long range of five compartments with a small building at the northeast end and an enclosure on the northwest. The small building and the eastern part of the range had been removed by the 2nd edition map. The remains of the whin mill were recorded in 1925, the course having been destroyed but the roller, central block and iron pin remaining. The stone of grey granite, 1.24 m long, the central pin, embedded in concrete, 25 mm thick and 305 mm high. . The circular groove in which the mill-stone revolved is 0.53m wide and 0.20m deep but as the bottom was overgrown with grass sods, its original depth must have been somewhat greater.
