Full Description

Remains of recumbent stone circle. The pillar stones have fallen and the recumbent was split up and removed circa 1844. Only two stones now stand. In its present state neither the original position of the recumbent or which of the fallen stones are flankers can be ascertained with certainty. The farmer in 1901 said that urns and burnt bones had been found to the west of the stones. No trace of a smaller circle said to lie to the west.

The circle measures 14.5 m in diameter and comprising at least six stones: the two flankers (one leaning, one fallen) and four orthostats, one of which is fallen. The recumbent does not survive although a cleared boulder has been dumped in this position. Several other boulders lie along the circumference of the circle including a long dressed block with a row of wedge sockets along the north edge of its upturned face. Within the interior is a cairn circa 0.6 m high and there are several chunks of white quartz amongst the cleared stones around its western margin. The outlier is a pillar measuring circa 2.25 m in height.
