Full Description

Graveyard, and site of St Caran's Church. The church of Premnay was given to the Abbey of Lindores circa 1196 and is mentioned in 1257 and 1567. Traditionally it stood near St Caran's Well, 'Caran's Butts' were near the church and St Caran's Fair was held in the churchyard. Jervise (1879) stated that foundations of the old church could be traced on the highest part of the churchyard. OS site visit (1969) found no trace of the old church. A fragment of the top of the belfry is in the churchyard wall to the west of the gate.
