Full Description

Site of mansion house and remains of a designed landscape dating to the 17th to the 19th centuries. A house named 'Pitmedden House' is shown on the OS 1st edition map. By the time of the 2nd edition this had been replaced, the new house named Petmathen. This late Victorian House was the residence of the Leiths of Freefield. It was built of corennie granite with sandstone facings and was demolished in 1955, A modern house has been built on the site.
