Full Description

Farmstead, still in use, depicted on the 1st edition OS map as a rectangular steading with small rectangular building to the south On the 2nd edition map the small building to the south has been removed, the steading has been extended, a new building has been added to the south and a farmhouse lies to the east. Today, the steading survives, but the farmhouse has been replaced with a new sub-square structure and the building to the south has been removed. Described in sale particulars of Tonley Estate of 1947 as follows: 'The farmhouse stands close to Ordinessle Wood and lies in a sunny and sheltered position. Built of granite with slate roof and containing 2 bedrooms, sitting room, kitchen, 2 attic bedrooms, milk house and pantry. The farmsteading, built of stone, includes 2-stall stable, hay house, byre for 13, turnip house, straw barn, granary, threshing floor, loose box and cart shed'.
