Full Description
Farmstead, still in use, depicted on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps as a square steading with central open courtyard, with farmhouse and well to the south. Today, the farmhouse is shown as a ruin, the south wing of the steading has been removed and the building extended westwards, and new buildings have been added to the north and east. Described on the sale particulars of Tonley Estate in 1947 as follows: 'The farm house is situated in the centre of the farm with southern aspect, stone built with slate roof, and contains two bedrooms, boxroom, sitting room, kitchen with range, milk house and pantry. The farm steading is similarly built and includes 2-bay cart shed, straw barn, threshing floor, granary, wash house, four-stall stable, byre for 25, turnip house and hen house'.
