Full Description

Farmstead, in use, depicted on the 2nd edition OS map of 1888 as a U-plan steading open to the S with 4 rectangular buildings and a dam to the S. Today, only 3 of the rectangular buildings to the S survive, with the 2 northernmost buildings having been altered to L-plan structures. Described in the sale particulars of Tonley Estate in 1947 as follows: 'The farm house is an attractive bow-fronted residence occupying a sheltered position, built of stone with slate roof, and comprises 2 bedrooms with attic room, sitting room, kitchen, milk house and pantry. The farm steading nearby is similarly built and includes Straw Barn, Threshing Floor, Granary, Byre for 16, Turnip House, Cart Shed, Hen House, Hay House, and 2-stall stable'.
