Full Description

Home farm for Place of Tillifoure (also known as Place of Tillyfour, NJ61NE0007), formerly used as stables, depicted on historic mapping. The 1st edition OS map shows a U-plan steading (stable block), open to the west with a long range to the southwest and small building to the northwest. A lade runs to the north side of the steading from a pond to the east. When extensive works were carried out on the estate in 1885 the steading was considerably enlarged and altered to provide workers' living accommodation, gas plant rooms, engine room, battery room, garages, stables, gun room and (in a long range to the west) skittles/ bowling alley.
