Full Description

Remains of a saw mill which is depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. According to a plaque on the inside of the west wall the mill was rebuilt by Sir Archibald Grant in 1921. It is built of quarried granite with dressed window and door surrounds, and there is evidence for at least two floors internally. The lower floor had an entrance to the east, the upper to the west opening directly onto the slope above. The lade ran from the river circa 320 m upstream to the north, and drove an internal waterwheel on the east side of the interior oft the mill. There are two sluices immediately north of the mill. The wheel survives within the building.
