Full Description

Hotel, built in the early 19th or late 18th century. The OS 1st edition map shows three separate buildings, which by the time of the 2nd edition had been incorporated into a single building. The original part at the rear has a canted entrance bay feature in angle, and is harled with margins. The front section the building is later, dating to circa 1874 or later, 2-storey and attic ashlar granite with small 3-storey tower. A standing building survey carried out by Cameron Archaeology in June 2016 ahead of proposed development., recorded the two phases of development. The later phase building has a datestone 1874 in the southeast gable with a small crowtepped chimney above. The tower in the west corner is topped by a granite ball finial. Several late 19th century stained glass windows remain. Internal features include wood and pilaster fireplaces, decorative plaster swags around the windows in the dining room, and mosaic tiled floor in the entrance hall.
