Full Description
Remains of possible cairns, and site of cairns and cists said to have been found ‘hearabouts’ in 1884 as indicated on the OS 1st edition map. A short cist found on the side of the hill ‘to the northwest of the cairn’ (NJ60SW0004), and which contained bones and urn fragments, was reported by Coles in 1906. OS site visit in 1968 did not locate that cist (possibly destroyed) but recorded a small stony mound with its centre hollowed, possibly a cairn, at NJ 61750393, but found no sign of other cairns. A possible cairn was reported in 2001 to the northeast of NJ60SW0004, comprising a rounded mound of densely packed stones about 12 m in diameter and possibly 1 m high.
