Full Description
Small mansion house, dating from mid 18th Century, a very complete example of its type. It is a 2-storey T-plan building, with skewputts dated 1742. There is a marked bell-cast to the roof. The chimneys have ogee copes. The outbuildings are single-storey, are probably earlier in date as there is a large arched hearth with ingle seats. Also noted were a cheese press and large walled garden. Former residence of Charles Mackay of Shiels 1794, who commanded a merchant ship in the West India Trade.
