Full Description

A manor is thought to have stood somewhere in the vicinity of Tillynaught. The farmstead is depicted on the OS 1st edition map as a long U-shaped steading with main axis north-south, with open court to the east. Another building stands on the eastern side. Further east is a Z-shaped building which is probably the house, with an attached enclosure to the south. On the west side of the farmstead are two mill ponds linked by a lade which runs towards the centre of the main range. By the 2nd edition the farmstead had been extended with the addition of an L-shaped range to the west end of the northern range. The ponds still lie to the west. The present farm still retains this configuration with new buildings lying to the north. The ponds appear to have been infilled although part of the lade survives.
