Full Description
House and site of castle. Although Sir George Abercromby pulled down much of the castle in late 18th century after a fire, its 'laigh biggins' remain. The drum tower at the rear is obviously part of the earlier house. The main block of surviving plan form of present house is early rather than late 18th century and may, like the tower, have been a wing of the earlier mansion. The structure consists of a harled 2-storey building set behind a forecourt. It is of note for its moulded doorway which is set below a heraldic panel dated 1693. To the east are parts of a late 17th or early 18th century walled garden and the house now converted to flats.
