Full Description

Railway viaduct opened by the Great North of Scotland railway, and built by Patrick M. Barnett in 1884-6. It is an eight-span railway viaduct with bull faced rubble and ashlar dressings. It has rusticated ashlar arch rings with brick-lined arches supported by tall bull faced piers and an ashlar band course. The parapet has an ashlar cope. Its length is 613 feet (187 metres), and the arches are 78 feet (24 metres) high. Not to be confused with the Seatown road bridge (NJ56NW0050), which goes under this viaduct. The Route skirting Cullen House necessitated by the refusal of Seafield Estates to allow the railway track to encroach on their policies. The North Deskford bridge to the East (NJ56NW0049) is a part of this railway. The railway is now closed.
