Full Description
On the 4th May 1877, the ST PIERRE of Bayonne, in ballast, sprung a leak and sunk in the River Spey, near Kingston on Spey. Although hidden under the water for most of the time since then, shifting of the river course resulted in the uncovering of the remains (several ribs) in 2022. A sample of the timber has been confirmed as oak, indicating that the vessel was made in France rather than locally (where larch was used).
