Full Description

House and shop, shown on the 1st edition OS map of 1866, on the corner of Seafield Street and South High Street. Originally a single storey with attic property, the building was heightened in 1892. Operated as a drapers and millinery by the Duncan family in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, now operating as a pharmacy. The 1892 alterations resulted in the property becoming a 2-storey range. It is harled with tooled ashlar margins. It has a bowed angle bay on the corner with 4 bays to Seafield Street (1 bay for shop and 3 bays to house) and 3 bays to South High Street. The centre entrance to the shop (No. 1) is flanked by shop windows, but there is now an enlarged modern window to right fronting Seafield Street. The house (No. 3) has central door with flanking windows. Along the roofline are ball finialled and pedimented dormers which break the wallhead in each bay. A shaped pediment with large finial and datestone (1892) occupies the corner angle bay.
