Full Description

Remains of a structure recorded in June 2021. It appears on the OS 1st edition map as a rectangular three-sided structure. It measures 5.72 m by 1.8 m externally, and 4.8 m by 1.35 m internally, formed of a revetment wall on the north, east and west sides. At the south the structure has been disturbed by construction of a roadside ditch. Walls are of unmortared local granite stones, in 3-4 rough courses, these walls capped by matched granite blocks and boulders. Capping blocks to the east and west walls are neatly squared with flat upper surfaces, 0.45 m wide, those on the north wall less well shaped but also with a flat upper surface. Its function is unclear, though it has the appearance of a loading bay.
