Full Description
A field system comprising of numerous stone clearance heaps joined by several small lynchets and slight stony banks to form fields. At NJ 5209 5412 are the remains of a hut circle. Forestry ploughing has reduced its outline to a slight rickle of stones, and greatly mutilated the north west part of the field system. Although ploughed, the remains of a substantial hut circle measuring approximately 11 m in diameter were observed by (FC SMR SIL006) to the east of a track leading through the wood from the access lane to the north. An apparently narrow hollow-way, running north-east from just south of the hut, stops short of the access lane at approximately NJ 5203 5440. FC also recorded an earth and stone bank (FC SMR SIL003) at the western edge of the area running from NJ 5207 5403 to NJ 5196 5402, and thence north to NJ 5190 5413 where it disappears into dense woodland. It is shown on OS 1st and 2nd edition maps as well as the modern OS maps.
