Full Description

Hall-house now in use as a farmhouse, which is on or near the site of a possible earlier manor. Described by Tranter as 'the old house of Culvie, a rather fine example of its type, long and low with coped chimneys, of late 17th century, and now a farmhouse'. The original part of the house consists of a 2-storey and attic hall house of late 17th century date of four irregular bays. This may incorporate parts of an earlier structure. A single storey service wing is on the south-west corner, with a further addition extending west forming a small courtyard at the rear of the house. There are some 18th century plasterwork cornices and a large room on the first floor has a coombed plasterwork ceiling.

Period Notes
Built c.1730 but incorporating an earlier tower.
