Full Description
The 1st and 2nd edition OS maps show 36 cairns on the Hill of Cairns. Most have now been obliterated by forestry ploughing and planting with only one unintelligible stony mound remaining. It is badly mutilated by a ditch and the addition of stone clearance. It is impossible to determine if it is a cairn or stone clearance heap. There are also mutilated remains of several stone clearance heaps within the wood but no huts have so far found to be evident. Some cairn remains may still survive within the forest.
