Full Description

A loosely compacted pile of stones recorded during walkover survey carried out by AOC Archaeology in July 2020 (NJ55NW0032). Comprised of stones and boulders, it forms an elongated oval shape that tapers and narrows to the north. Overall it measures 8.2m long north-south and has a maximum width of 3.5m. The stone extends below the level of the surrounding ground surface. It may be the denuded remains of a clearance cairn or shieling hut.
