Full Description
Cottages, still in use, depicted on historic OS maps, in the historic core of Huntly. They show numbers 2-4 as a single block, occupying the full width of the plot, with number 6 being narrower with a small yard behind, and number 8 an almost square building extending the full width of the plot. Number 6 is now an unroofed open area with the cottage wall along the street facade. An archaeological watching brief was carried out by MAS in 2016 during groundworks ahead of proposed development. No groundworks were undertaken at number 4. At number 8 the only ground disturbance was on the line of the new north gable wall. At the west (street) end was a stone and mortar foundation, built of large stones, probably the foundation of the original stone wall of number 6. Photographic recording was carried out in 2016.
