Full Description
Huntly Castle Hotel, formerly Huntly Lodge, originally named Sandiestone. The earliest part, dating to 1752, is a 3-storey harled block at the east end with a tall piended roof. There is a 2-storey addition to the south, of the same height with plain parapet (possibly of 1757) of squared granite with evidence of subsequent alteration at the top. A large symmetrical north addition is probably circa 1800 and/or 1814-20. Subsequent 'minor works' by Archibald Simpson 1822. There is a walled garden with an 18th century sundial on the south lawn with square freestone baluster on fluted base, modern dial. A second 18th century sundial is on the north lawn, squat square granite baluster with slate dial. See NJ54SW0049 for the designed landscape.

17th century house within a 1752 build; addition on the west and ice house c.1800; minor works 1822, back wing built c.1832.
